TwistedBrush Open Studio offers to help you create digital works of art. With its elaborate paintbrush set, its simple controls, and a bevy of options, it improves on the usual painting programs.

The program's interface is a delight to navigate, with its instructional Help file and numerous but not overwhelming options. The program is organized much like the popular Paint program packaged with Windows. There's a fragmented color palette, a selection of brushes, various shape-making tools, and a large canvas to work with. Like Paint, it uses a click-and-drag method to create images. Where this program differentiated itself from the competition was with its realism. While they could never be mistaken for the real thing, the brushstrokes do have a lifelike quality that mimics the size, coverage, and density of an actual paintbrush on canvas. We were pleasantly surprised, because we knew Windows' Paint couldn't make strokes so naturally. Unfortunately, TwistedBrush didn't impress us by offering anything special in the way of features. It includes features for filters and masks, but they're pretty run of the mill. While not a substitute for actual paintbrushes and canvas, this program did the best job of imitation that we've ever tested.

TwistedBrush Open Studio is freeware. It installs desktop icons without permission and leaves folders behind after uninstalling. Though it doesn't radically alter the digital painting field, its realism is enough of a change from the rest for us to recommend it.

I downloaded from developer's site and according to VirusTotal scanning the application was infected! Beware of this!

Pros
If you are creative and can apply all types of mediums to, you can really have fun using this Open Studio. There is all sorts of toys to play with...just explore this Free software!
Cons
This Open studio is fun, But when I saw all the tools, brushes, effects on the original program, I felt so limited in the free one. I can't afford it, maybe your sales department can offer specials (really good ones) So I can also have the pleasure of the unlimited..anything that I can Dream up, CAN be created!!!!

Pros
Lots of brushes and effects tools, lots of instructions, lots of ways to be creative. Not for the weak at heart, but definitely for the creative at soul. Enjoyable to kick back and create your own masterpiece.
Cons
Perhaps too many instructions to read at the beginning to boggle your mind. Just jump in and DO. It's a fun software program to be creative and CREATE. Don't worry about what you are designing. There is an undo button. Give it a try.
Summary
A good program for those that want to draw, etc., online. I prefer natural medium. This took some getting used to. My first piece wasn't bad, wasn't good, was "just". That's ok. It's a good software program for wanting to relax. Or for those that have the patience and perhaps are into the logistics more, its great to create your own masterpiece. Maybe I will someday. Give it a try. You might create your own!

Decent mediocre program with a lot of brushes & functions that I couldn't figure out how to use

No tablet support on my Gateway M285 (probably only works with Wacom digitizers), quite confusing
Summary
Very confusing (and I'm very experienced with Photoshop, Corel PhotoPaint, Gimp, and others) -- I'd rather spend my time learning a more useful program. Since this program apparently doesn't support the digitizer in my Tablet PC, I found it useless.

Extremely complete with a long learning curve due to the the many features. Easy to use & highly visible interface. Nothing hidden or suppressed or crippled.

Summary
A great deal as it is free to use & learn without a limited-time trial limitation (it'll take 2-3 months to learn the use of all the features). Will likely upgrade to the "pro" version later.
