Twende - Carpooling for Android

Twende is a free Android application designed for travel and navigation, facilitating carpooling between verified private car owners and passengers. It aims to provide a comfortable, affordable alternative to traditional public transport in Kenya, particularly for routes like Nairobi to Nakuru. Users can easily find rides, reserve seats, and enjoy a hassle-free journey without the chaos of bus stages or crowded matatus. The app emphasizes safety and community by requiring ID verification for all users and allowing passengers to view driver ratings and reviews. The app offers a straightforward process for both passengers and drivers. Passengers can enter their pickup and drop-off locations to find available rides, while drivers can publish their routes and manage available seats with capped fuel contributions. The digital Trip Code system ensures secure boarding, and payments are handled directly at the vehicle, either in cash or via M-Pesa. Overall, Twende fosters a trustworthy and community-oriented travel environment for Kenyan commuters.
