  Pros

  I have downloaded the trial version. However, as the trial will not complete any action on the computer itself, it is not possible to judge by results. The GUI looks comprehensive and the user guide is well-written. The preview pane gives some indication of what may occur once a process completes; but, it is not definitive.

  Cons

  I have given the product the minimum rating as it is not supported. Darq's website (http://darqsoft.com/) refers to the launch of Windows Phone's "Mango" OS last September (2011) as a future event (today is 4th August 2012, I should mention)!! Messages from the Darq or the Transmute (http://www.gettransmute.com/) website are not answered, nor emails to support@gettransmute.com. However, the payment facility remains intact. $30 is quite a lot for an abandoned product...

  Summary

  I have yet to risk the $30 ($29.95, to be precise). I was unwilling to proceed because of the support issue, despite the software looking like it would achieve what I wanted. Specifically, I needed to know if the "date_added" timestamp for a particular bookmark in Chrome's "Bookmarks" text file was converted by Transmute into the corresponding .url file's created date in Windows Explorer. Their free product does not reproduce this date in the exported .url file copy; the created date of the .url file is the date/time of the export. The Pro product looks as though it may make the conversion; it certainly reads the Chrome timestamp correctly - and the adjustable sorting process suggests, in the preview pane, that an exported Chrome bookmark will merge into an existing Windows favorites folder according to the date/time on which the Chrome bookmark was first created. However, this may mean only that the order of the Windows folder is re-arranged so that the Chrome bookmark appears in the right place chronolically. One cannot tell whether an effectively false, Windows created date, reflecting however the true date of creation of the bookmark within Chrome, was constructed by Transmute Pro for the new .url file. Thus, if that false created date was not constructed, should the Windows folder then be re-arranged, it will not be possible to return to Transmute's new ordering of the files, as that ordering was only made temporarily by the programme at the time of the export. For the layout of a Windows folder containing bookmark or favorite files to show consistently, whenever reqired, the order in which those bookmarks were first ever made, then those bookmarks which originated in Chrome must bear a "Date Created" date which matches Chrome's "date-added" timestamp. It is not possible from Trasmute Pro's trial to determine whether the programme constructs the date referred to, as part of the new .url file's permanent properties. And Darq Software itself will not elucidate on this, either, as they cannot be reached. Thus, in my case, no money has been sent to Darq and no definitive appraisal of the software can be made here.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Aug 4, 2012<p/>Typos! ... appears in the right place chronolically... = ... appears in the right place chronologically... ... consistently, whenever reqired, the... = ... consistently, whenever required, the... ... matches Chrome's "date-added" timestamp. = ... matches Chrome's "date_added" timestamp. ... from Trasmute Pro's trial... = ... from Transmute Pro's trial... If there are any more, they shall have to stay.
