Editors’ Review
Toucan for Mac instantly creates a slideshow of any images you open with it. This basic app comes with a free trial and offers a novel feature that allows you to display a folder's images as a slideshow. What's great is that every new photo placed in the folder gets automatically added to the slideshow and presented on the next slide.
Toucan for Mac features no main window. Instead, files are opened either through the menu bar or by dropping them on top of the app's icon. When we tested this with a folder containing a few pictures, we were presented with an instant fullscreen slideshow where we could zoom images in and out. Any images added while the slideshow is running are successfully shown as the next slide. In the software's preferences you can adjust the length of slides and choose among 11 transitions, including a shuffle mode. The app supports zooming and multiple monitors.
If you're looking for an app that can continuously stream newly added images to a folder and show them fullscreen, you've found it in Toucan for Mac. Its accessibility and support for multiple displays make it appealing to casual users who want to show off some vacation photos, as well as to professionals who need a monitor that continuously displays newly added content.
