Save Time While Monitoring Network Devices. To start network device monitoring you just have to run TNM and watch the process. TNM will inform you about all the errors and failures that happen in your network. You may choose a device and watch what happens with it. If failure occurs on one of your devices, TNM will inform you about it. The information about the device state will be given to you before the situation becomes dangerous, and you will have enough time to discover what problems exist in the computer network and try to eliminate them. Now, you don't have to spend a lot of time on network monitoring by way of running from one system to another and personally checking the state of certain utilities. Pros
1. 60 day shareware so can work to debug a specific network issue without having to buy the product. 2. Because it is shareware not freeware it is no longer bundled with any addonware just the program itself. 3. Pricing is < $100 which is reasonable for our clients 4. Can monitor any TCP port, there is a combobox with a dropdown of the common ports already populated. Just type in a port number for any other port.
Cons
1. Running as a service is still "rigged". When you choose to run as a service it does not spawn a separate service for the monitor and Client. It is more like the client is running as a service. Thus a user has to shut down the service and start a new client to make changes. 2. Logging to an ODBC connection or SQL database would be a useful addition. Fields should include a custom field where we can specify an install Name, Node, Monitor, and status. With an option to record all.
Summary
Nice package and works well. In an ideal world it would always install a process as a service and the client UI would communicate with the service to query the information necessary to update the UI. In that same ideal world there would be an option of starting and stopping the service when the UI is opened and closed or always running.

Summary
Been using the old version for a few years, trying out the new version. A number of errors have been fixed, interface improved as well. Unfortunately, it's no longer free.

Pros
The detail and near real time readout as a program is great. Somewhat demanding on a Celeron laptop, however. Thought I had a bargain in free software. Almost immediately the EULA forewarning of 'third party' 'information-email releases' became clearly active with an attack and forcede downloading of the Incredimail 'pirate' program which is a subversion/dominionation process of self installation without the computer owners allowance of personal desision-making. There is no legal complaint allowed, no uninstall aspect, and no check box or even any text warning of the ajoined installation of the dominating email program. Windows outwardly open in number despite my Zone Alarm refusal to permit the internet communication before and after the forcible self-installation attack. This occured in direct atachment to Total Network Monitor installation. Two differing programs, one action combined without noticw or warning. Atempting a control panel 'removal' locked up the laptop.
Cons
This is the EULA type of statement Total Network Monitor uses to excuse the unwarned attacks are an aspect of background organized crime operations. A small section of the rambling self-exceptions and corrupting subversive additions to what should have been a legal explanation of their busness values and warrantee. "Softinventive Lab does not warrant that the functions contained in the materials will be uninterrupted or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that this site, including forums and bulletin boards, or the server that makes it available, are free of viruses or other harmful components. Softinventive Lab does not warrant or make any representations regarding the use or the results of the use of the materials in this site or in third-party sites in terms of their correctness, accuracy, timeliness, reliability or otherwise. You (and not Softinventive Lab) assume the entire cost of all necessary maintenance, repair or correction." 'Total Network' owners are crooks.
Summary
The program could be bought by a new set of legally correct owners, and the sale of email addresses, and the forced illegal installing of Incredimail, a criminal society of damaging types, could be separated from the network monitoring software installation. If you value legality, self ownership of your computer and files, or, civil law privacy matters, DO NOT INSTALL this spyware, crafty, crooked, dual teamed pair of programs. This should have been titled, "Incredimails Total Dominion Network Monitor Spyware". CNET has again failed to filter out, and, avoid selling out cheap, to crooks.
