Unremarkable, overpriced, but still basically capable--that's Text to Speech MP3. This run of the mill application reads text out loud and batch-converts text files to MP3 or WAV files. With the unattractive yet straightforward interface, you simply select text in any document and press Ctrl C to have it read it aloud. However, the program lacks controls for skipping to the next sentence or paragraph. The trial version reads only the first 400 characters of a given text, so we couldn't adequately gauge its conversion speed. Text to Speech MP3 with Natural Voices does exactly what it's supposed to, but it lacks extra features to separate it from the pack. In that light, the $64.95 price for the registered version seems hugely excessive.
