This digital storybook was developed as part of theHelp Me Tell My Storyearly childhood literacy assessment.Thisholistic assessment is a program funded bythe Saskatchewan Ministry of Education in partnership with the school divisions and communities involved in the 2011 pilot program. The assessment is unique in many ways, and it is grounded in First Nations andMtisholisticperspectiveson learning. All of the stories incorporate traditional beliefs and perspectives and are available in four languages: English, Cree, Dene and Michif.This story is one of four digital storybooks that tell the story of Tate, a character in the assessment program, and his friends from the pond. The stories were developed to be used in the classroomandin the home to help improve early childhood language skills. This is Tates story.Tate is a flyer who gathers stories from all over to share with his other friends. His name, Tate, means wind in Dakota. His story introduces the Flyers and how their ability to fly allows them to learn and share many stories.
