In addition to being more convenient than pencil-and-paper, the Susser also can show hints, solve the problem step-by-step using human deductive reasoning, or brute-force solve it using recursion. You can drag Sudoku problems directly from web pages, save, edit, print and more. And if you like the program, you can tip the author to encourage him to improve it.

Excellent puzzle importing/exporting features Knows all the named solving strategies (almost two dozen) and can illustrate them on any puzzle with as much or as little hand-holding as you like

Excellent app, and the criticism that it doesn't contain enough puzzles isn't really valid, since it supports one-click loading of a random puzzle of any given difficulty from menneske.no (which contains millions)

Creates new puzzles, lets you enter them manually (useful if you get stuck on one from, say, a newspaper), provides variable levels of hints, saves partially completed puzzles for later. Wonderful graphic interface, simple to use with great color codes. Provides as much or as little information about future moves as you like. I can't imagine anything more than this. And free, too!!!

I use it to check if a puzzle is fun to play before I start any puzzle and it has made my puzzling life a lot more... puzzling ;-)

UGLY interface. Ok, it's RealBasic and it's multiplatform, but this isn't a good point. The author worked more on the feature set than in the actual UI usability. Work more on the UI to make it looks cool, and it will be supa.

Everyone else who has written a Sudoku application for MacOS is probably feeling a little sick with envy now. This gem of an application looks to be everything a true addict of Sudoku could ever want. My God. Drag and drop gifs (eg from The Times web site.. other site available of course) for instant OCR and setting up of an electronic version of a puzzle. Hints, notes the lot. We are not worthy.. I have not even run it much yet... This is truly worthy of a full row of stars just on the feature list alone. Big pat on the back to the author. Nice one.
