Pros
First, it's a great idea. The graphics in the background are MEANT to be a distraction. This makes it a little more difficult. Also, the spaceships, asteroids, black holes, etc., are a great idea.
Cons
The programmer could never have tried the game after finishing. While playing, ERROR messages stop the game cold. If you save a game, when you return to it, you're in for a big surprise because the "washed out graphics" revolt !
