Cons
Installs VICIOUS SPYWARE, which disables your web browser. Produces empty text files. Doesn't work, and doesn't even pretend to work.

Stay away, this product is a complete scam and a joke on the CNET editors who bizarrely give it good reviews. It's a waste of several hours uninstalling and reinstalling software to get rid of the spybots.

Quick & easy to install, relatively easy to figure out how to use, though I did check the online instruction page to make sure.

Set everything up, including Begin & End pages I wanted, but try as I might, nothing would happen when I clicked the Start Convert button.

Pros
Free, it extract text from the pdf file which includes the spaces and formatting. This makes it a breeze to import data into excel through excel's native import text file import. It also does not require registration and it's not a demo. I loved it!
Cons
Screen layout is not the greatest but it gets the job done. Other than that I don't see any whatsoever.
Summary
If you found Adobe's reader text copying utility frustrating then Some PDF to Txt Converter 1.5 is the solution you have been looking for. I imported the text file this program created into excel by selecting the "fixed width" option and every column fell neatly into its corresponding cell. It requires not registration and works right off the bat. This is a great piece of freeware. Thank you!

When other converters put out nothing, this little gem did exactly as stated. It puts out a clean text file with spaces between table cells. Very nice.

Definitely a useful tool to keep. Mind you it doesn't do OCR so it won't work with pdf files from scanners. But standard pdf (generated from word processors or typesetting software) works just fine.

This is a PDF to plain text converter, which means that the output is intended for NotePad (.txt files), not MS Word (.doc files). Plain text documents do not have fonts, character formats (e.g. underline, bolding), paragraph and page formatting, tables, etc. If you are expecting to have the text formatting preserved, then this converter is not for you. However as a converter to plain text files, it does a wonderful job and that was exactly what I was looking for. The GUI interface is simple, and took no time at all to figure out. I was able to select 10 PDF files ranging from 150 to 250 pages each, and it converted them all in about 2 minutes. I skimmed the text, and it all looked accurately converted. There are a few conversion options - such as including or excluding page break characters - on the right side. It can also generate the output as html files.
