This great little app allowed me to add chapter markers to video files i already had in itunes. With its great UI, I was able to do this quickly, easily and safely. No over the top bells and whistles, just a clean and robust little app. This app does things that quicktime just doesn't do. Well worth the price.

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I required a basic editor to trim tapes I had copied to my computer from VHS using eyeTV and saving to Quicktime. Quicktime files load immediatly into SimpleMovie unlike the long loading times I experienced in iMovie, and it was easier than iMovie for me to learn to use. If I were to become more involved in transitions and titleing I'd probably use iMovie, however, SimpleMovie suits my needs and is stable to use.

The biggest plus is yes you can actually join and SAVE AS.. two or more mpgs via copy and paste with the audio coming out the other end along with the video. That is the good news, plus the ability to do likewise to another format like .mov (use EXPORT for other formats). In the trial the export is slowed by the process being stoppped for an 'ad break' every ten seconds to buy the app, which is unnecessary and will result more in lost sales I suspect. The downside is that mpgs cannot be be dragged and dropped to the player screen to join a la Quicktime then saved. You have to open each segment in a new window, copy and paste to first window, a very annoying process and that needs a PRONTO FIX by the programmers. Also there is NO EXPORT TO .MPG1/2 in the export menu, just the regular QT pro selection. Thus, it has rather limited functionality. Considering VideoLAN player does everything this app does and much more, except join clips, it is hard to see a $24 value here given VideoLANs $0 price tag. Yes QT pro is more expensive, but that does not mean either are value compared to some good free software such as USBvision exported (very underrated), mpegStreamclip, and VLC player. This DOES NOT imply all software apps should be free, rather they must be reasonably priced for the job they actually do out in the real world, and a whole bunch less hype about all those "world changing" apps would be a huge improvement.

Anyhow, it does what it says it does, it makes Mpegs from movs and in and out of other formats where iMovie cannot and it does it cheaper than QuickTime pro, with a few extra features. That said, I haven't bought it yet. I think it should cost $15-$20, not $24. I'll probably be purchasing in the next few days.

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />the window is resizeable and the program is a good idea especially for editing the mpegs. you can't edit mpeg1/2 with qt pro. the lower right corner of the screen is where you resize it. I like the idea of the frames pane window. I'd like to see how far this thing goes. Keep developing this program.

I need to convert some DV video footage from a Quicktime.mov file to an AVI file (I'd really like to put it into MPEG2 at the same time.) The blurb here on VersionTracker lead me to believe this would do it. I opened my file, hit export, waited the 1 minute the trial version pauses, then got <b>THE SAME DIALOG BOX AS IMOVIE.</b> What's up with that? This program wasted my time, wants a shareware fee, and gives me no more than I already had with Apple's product, which was bundled with my computer.</p> <br> <p>If the blurb or the developer's web site had been up front about what this program could do, I wouldn't feel so burned by it.</p>
