Resize image files on your PC.

Most cameras these days take high resolution photos that are both large in file size and beyond the resolution of your computer monitor. They are often to large to email. This tool can be used to shrink your images, both in dimension and physical size (on disk). Select the max width/height (or choose no size reduction). Change the compression percentage. Have the program overwrite the original file or create a new one. Works with .jpg, .gif, .bmp or .tif/tiff.

Pros
156 kb takes no space on pc (no install, save it to desktop). Can resize or compress. Simple to add a number of files & convert them all at once. It's very fast. It makes copies with suffix 'a', or there is an option to replace original file.
Cons
When compressing some prior experimenting is necessary to get file size you want. Doesn't remember your settings, they revert to default each use. Output goes to the original folder, no option to put it elsewhere.
Summary
If you want a simple tool to resize or compress your photos, this is one of the best I have found so far.

Cons
It is one extra step. I wish there was a right-click to resize down images as in some of the XP programs.

Pros
Worked perfectly, no installation needed, small exe. Using the default settings it reduced 3M pics to less than 100k and like the author mentioned there are no visible differences when viewed on a typical laptop screen.
