Shoeboxed Receipt and Mileage Tracker is an incredibly powerful and intuitive way to keep track of receipts, mileage, and more. If you frequently have reimbursable or tax-deductible business expenses, Shoeboxed will make your life a whole lot easier.

Shoeboxed keeps track of your receipts using your phone's camera, but it's much more than just a photo gallery. Take a photo of a receipt, and the image is actually transmitted to Shoeboxed and processed by a person who verifies all the information. You can then use Shoeboxed to create expense reports and export them as Excel, CSV, PDF, QuickBooks, and other file types. Do you frequently make purchases from vendors that email you receipts? Shoeboxed provides you with a custom email address that you can use for this purpose, allowing merchants to send the receipts directly to your Shoeboxed account. Free accounts limit users to five receipts a month, but you can also manually process receipts, yourself, if you opt not to upgrade. The app can also use your phone's GPS to track your mileage automatically; just hit the "Start Trip" button before you leave and Shoeboxed will keep track of where you go and calculate your mileage using standard reimbursement rates. We had no problem getting started with Shoeboxed; both the sign-up process and the app's interface are intuitive, and we uploaded our first receipt in a matter of seconds.

If you find yourself struggling to keep up with receipts and mileage logs and run the risk of losing money as a result, give Shoeboxed Receipt and Mileage Tracker a try. It's an elegant solution to a problem that plagues many professionals, and we recommend it.

Pros
I've loved Shoeboxed ever since I started using it 5 years ago. - keeps me organized with no amount of work from my side - mobile apps, web apps, but also just an envelope to drop paper clutter in for them to scan - amazing support and help

I don't really have any problems..

Pros
Nothing to add
Cons
The receipt-scanning service is poorly managed (we are not commenting on the app but the service to have your receipts sent in via snail mail and scanned)
Summary
We heard about this service from a colleague and was happy there was something out there like this for small businesses, but I hate to be a jerk--especially to a start-up, but our experience was not good. I hope this is a one-off, but wanted to warn everyone. We sent in our receipts to be scanned via their snail mail service. We did this because we have over 600+ receipts for the year that needed to be scanned. It is touted on their website that they will do it in two days or so. Since we had a lot, we gave them leeway in the timeframe. However, before we started the service, we made sure we could get the receipts back and they confirmed as we needed it for legal/tax purposes. What we were upset about is (1) they didn't scan all the receipts and (2) did not send back the receipts to us until we threaten legal action. Their customer service kept on giving us the run around and were unresponsive We finally got them back after a week or two after the legal threat. So to save you the headache, don't use this service. Hire a high schooler to save you the troubles.
Great for on-the-go, busy business travelers

Pros
Mileage tracker is very simple to use and automatically uses your phone's GPS. Easy to export without having to organize anything. Integrates map into the app. Very direct in terms of use. You can go back in an adjust any numbers.
Cons
Doesn't have a whole bunch of features beyond its core - but that's okay when you're looking for something direct, simple, and user-friendly.

Pros
I travel extensively for work and have dealt with the cumbersome task of tracking my mileage and receipts for many years. With shoeboxed I have found the remedy for this headache. Just snap a picture of the receipt or hit the 'start trip' button and that's it - your work is done!
Cons
I don't have any negatives at this time
Summary
great product. Well worth the $20 a month

Pros
Accurate scanning. Fast turnaround. Huge time saver
Cons
Not free? ha
Summary
How much is your time worth? For $20 a month, you can send in 150 business cards and receipts and have them all scanned for you with a high quality scanner. I previously spent much more time than with such activities, or I just didn't bother at all. Now come tax time, and it's a huge relief.
Great tool for road warriors and small business owners

Pros
The Shoeboxed iPhone app by itself is cool but doesn't do too much. It works with the Shoeboxed mail service, which I use. Stuff receipts and business cards in a giant post-paid envelope - they scan and digitize all of the data. Very slick.
Cons
The iPhone App itself only lets you send in a few receipts unless you join the main service.
Summary
I travel for work constantly and have always had trouble keeping track of all those receipts (think Starbucks, parking garages, taxi cab rides, fast food receipts, hotel receipts, etc...). With Shoeboxed, I just snap a photo of the receipt using their iPhone App and I can generate an expense report, with receipt images and all of the data they contain in about 4 minutes. I also use the mail service, which is amazing. Stuff their postage paid, indestructible envelope with receipts and business cards. They scan everything, data enter all of them, and I download / import financial info into QuickBooks and contact info into Salesforce.com.
