• Caught a warehouse break in!

  Pros

  I have 3 security cameras, one each from D-Link, Trendnet, and Foscam. This is the only software I found that would work with all of them. I had it loaded on one of our servers in the office, monitoring the 3 warehouse cameras every night. When someone broke in to the warehouse (one of the ex-employees had a key), Security Monitor Pro recorded the whole thing along with audio. I was able to give the video recording to the police which led to the arrest of the ex-employee and his accomplices.

  I cannot find any issues

  I paid a whole lot of money (hundreds of dollars?) for my 12 seat license (12 cameras) because it was the only software I could find. I just found BlueIrisSoftware.com that has TONS of more options and makes S.M. Pro look like child's play. The best part is the price: $60 for unlimited cameras!   At first time, program offers a lot of features

  Claims to support a Storage Options camera, but get "failed" is trying to test. Settings used are same as those in other programs which work successfully. No help or feedback is given.

• Easy set up - motion triggering needs work

  Easy to set up. Works with most IP cameras. Has a broadcast setting for viewing over the internet.

  Cons

  * Way too expensive for what the program offers, nearly $90 to monitor just 2 cameras. * The motion monitoring to trigger video and/or email is very hard to get set right. It either detects motion where there is none or doesn't detect motion at all. I've worked with it for hours trying to get it set right and it still triggers too often or not at all. * Uses too much computer resources and may overheat some of the less powerful machines.

  Summary

  This is a decent software but needs improvement and would be a better value at less than half the price for what it offers. If other companies supported my IP cameras, I wouldn't have purchased this one.

• Caught a burglar!

  Pros

  Installation was easy and quick. I have 5 cameras, all different models of TrendNet, Level One, Advidia, and HikVision. This is only software that supported all of them simultaneously. I love the interface, very intuitive.

  Cons

  Frame rate on the high resolution Hikvision camera could be better, but that might be a bandwidth limit of my wireless connection.

  Summary

  We caught a burglar prowling around our back yard. He saw my camera and moved onto the house across the street. I gave a copy of the recording to the police and they were able to identify and catch the burglar that broke into my neighbor's place! Most valuable software on my PC.

• The ONLY IP Camera Monitor that really works for me

  Pros

  I have had NONE of the problems that other reviewers are complaining about and this is the ONLY program that is not only easy to setup but actually works flawlessly at least for me. It has all the features that I need and the software is well designed. I'm really picky and if I sing the praises of an application, it's good. I do have a high end modern PC and perhaps others are having problems because of their hardware.

• Very Unreliable as Security Software

  Idea is good, and when it works, it is okay.

  Cons

  Works for a day or two, then crashes with Runtime C++ errors, with no user-friendly exception handling. Badly designed program. I have paid for the software, and also for an update. Fed up of these errors and crashes. If you are serious about security, about this software and company.

  Do NOT buy this software, and avoid the company.   Crashes, resource hog, cant get cam to broadcast 99% of the time, not real good for security as you have to be near the computer all the time to reset. I spent hours on this program and found nothing worth $90. I did not find anything that would be worth $9. Uninstalled, I will not buy
