This program makes it simple to create a professional, self-installing screensaver. Screensaver Factory Pro 4 assembles GIF, JPEG, BMP, TIFF, and PNG images, along with Flash movies and AVI, MPEG, WMV, and ASF video files, into one content list.

You can apply customizable text labels and a variety of masks to your images. For your soundtrack, you can include any combination of WAV, WMA, MP3, and MIDI files, and preview them with a built-in player. The inclusion of video files can keep the soundtrack from playing, but the fact you select individual files rather than a whole folder makes up for that.

Eschewing the wizard model in favor of side navigation, this application has an attractive interface that makes it easy to change your mind about your settings and content. You can type a read-me file and license agreement into the program or attach existing ones.

The Options window lets you set what controls you offer your users, such as mute and transition effects. You can add banners, trial limitations, and registration tools, in addition to a couple of promotional features. Our only quibble is the generated screensavers don't install into the C:\Windows\system32 folder. Screensaver Factory Pro 4 meets the needs of anyone, amateur or professional, who wants to distribute screensavers.
