SayHi Translate for iOS

SayHi Translate is a surprisingly accurate voice translation app that could be the tool world travelers have been looking for quick translations. Using the app is easy. Simply touch the wrench icon to choose your language, then the language you want something translated to, then return to the main interface. From there you can either touch your language button to speak or touch the smaller keyboard icon to type a sentence and SayHi Translate will translate the sentence and speak it back to you (or whomever your trying to communicate with). It doesn't get everything right, but if you speak clearly, the app seems to get the meaning almost every time.

SayHi Translate comes with 24 languages and dialects with speech recognition, and 9 languages that let you input via the iPhone keyboard to hear the translation spoken back to you, for a total of 33 languages.

The app also has a couple of options for how you interact with it. A setting for detecting the end of speech makes it so you don't have to press a button to stop recording, but may also be frustrating if it takes you some time to get your thoughts into clear sentences -- a pause will end the interaction and start translating automatically. You also have the option to turn on beeping sound for when the app recognizes speech.

SayHi Translate isn't perfect and you'll sometimes need to try again to get the translation right, but it's incredible in what it can detect and will be an invaluable tool for anyone who travels and needs a quick and dirty translator.

Toggle to type:

If you would like to primarily type text into the app, open the language list at the bottom of the conversation view, then tap the toggle to always type.
