• Fabulous product! Makes Word so much easier to use

  Pros

  This is a wonderful product! It's worth the download, its free (for home use), and requires virtually no training.<p>It lets you work in Word without worrying about how to do things. It's hidden - completely out of the way - until you need it. It's amazing how much time is spent searching for commands, and how much it interrupts your work. You don't realize it until you don't have to do it.<p>There are all sorts of commands that are much faster to type - like 'blue', or 'arial', or '0.5 indent', rather than searching through color wheels, font lists, or trying to be precise with the mouse on the ruler. It also lets you do some things easily, like inserting symbols from the symbol table (e.g. type 'alpha' to insert the alpha symbol, or 'e /' to get e with accent aigue) - these are a complete chore without it.<p>This thing is not for complicated commands - that's not the point - it's for letting you do every day things easily. If you know the shortcut for underline, use the shortcut. But, if you don't know how to do something - like, you have 2 columns of text and you want to end them - did you know you had to insert a 'section break' to end the columns? I didn't - but I didn't have to - I just typed 'end columns'.<p>That is its strength - you don't have to memorize what the commands are - you just type in what you think it should be, and it understands you! You can break it - but that's not the point - it surprisingly good when you are trying to be understood.<p>This is a wonderful product - it's unintrusive, free (for home use), and makes computers easier to use.

  Cons

  Some of the less used features of Word are not supported.<p>It would be nice for the product to suggest commands if it couldn't understand you.

  Pros

  It amazing how much more productive one can be when you're not distracted by searching for commands in the gui! As an example, I needed to do strikeout on a sentence, I simply pressed the special key, typed strikeout and it was done. My train of thought was not distracted and my writing flow was smooth. Amazing! I'm now not afraid of doing superscript or subscript, or other commands because they take no effort at all. I no longer have to wait till the document is written to do formatting, I instead do it real-time.

  Cons

  It's still in Beta, so doesn't always get the commands.. For me it worked about 85% of the time.. When it didn't get it right, I simply specified what I wanted a slightly different way and then it got it.

  Pros

  I tried Natural Word because I was curious. I use Word a moderate amount, and I will always use the shortcut keys I remember, but I loved not having to change my focus and move the mouse when formatting. I used to write and format later - with Natural Word, I found myself formatting as I typed - I loved it! I also found myself not wasting as much time (and losing focus) searching for those options I seldom use (like change the numbering style, or make the bullet larger, etc.). It didn't understand correctly everything I typed, but most of it - and once you get it the right mindset (be terse), it works amazingly well. It also comes with the ability to define your own commands - I used it to create very terse commans (e.g. f == insert footnote), and redefined one or two things it didn't understand correctly. For the price (free) it's awesome, and rather addictive - it makes document writing a lot less stressful.

  Cons

  Not every command is supported - most of the common ones are, but once in a while when it does not understand you, I would have liked to know 'this is not supported yet'. <p>It would be very helpful to have it spell check your commands, and maybe suggest ones when it can't understand you - otherwise, you sometimes find yourself retyping commands in the dark.
