Listen to each passage with real-time text highlighting.This app is designed to help kids develop comprehension skills early in the process of learning to read. Using this app, kids who are reading at Guided Reading Levels G & H become skilled at reading simple passages and answering text-based multiple choice comprehension questions.These materials were developed by Anne and Keith Gardner, a mother-son team. Keith is a Computer Science student and Anne is an experienced reading teacher. Together they are having fun working together to create apps designed to help kids develop early literacy skills.This app is ideal for use in either a classroom or home setting. It is recommended that a parent or teacher work through the first couple passages with students. Once students are familiar with the format of the multiple choice questions, this app can be used independently.These word problems are designed with the rigor of the following First Grade Common Core standards in mind: ELA-Literacy.RL.1.1 - Ask and answer questions about key details in a text. ELA-Literacy.RF.1.3g - Recognize and read grade-appropriate irregularly spelled words.This version of the app contains one level for free. The full version contains all 15 levels.The format of passages and questions mirror the assessments that many first grade students now take at school.
