• A very handy tool for interviewing

  As part of my research I do a lot of interviewing, I use Quickvoice and an iPod touch, this gives excellent sound quality, and works fine, then I distribute the soundfiles to helpers who transcribe interviews.

  Cons

  Although on a mac the .caf file plays on whatever I use, but not all PCs can play the file. That sometimes creates trouble for the transcribers.

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I'm running QVR on OS X 10.5.4 (Leopard), and so farâ??knocking on woodâ??without a hitch. I'm a writer, and it's been some time that I've been waiting for a little app into which I can quickly dictate passages and thoughts that come to mind while I'm at work. You know how it is, this perfectly worded passage pops into your head but by the time you jut it down, some of it is gone. Maybe I'm too slow a typer, but as far as I'm concerned, QVR is just what I needed. And at the promotional price, it's a pretty decent buy. The only thing I wish wasn't there is the tiny delay between pressing the record button and the time that recording actually commences. It's just a second or two, and while it seems like a long time for my percolating brain, it's really no deal breaker. Thumbs up from me.

I make a recording using the manager, then make a second one, and it only copies the first one, or, it says that the app can't find the one I have just done, even though it exists in the default folder for recordings. I think maybe it has something to do with QT 6.4. Stickies works okay, I just wish this added voice recording to the services menu. Then you could use it anywhere there is Cocoa (Stickies, Sticky Brain, TextEdit, Mail, etc.) I like the interface though I wouldn't recommend it until these bugs are crushed.

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />This is really cool. As a songwriter there's nothing out there easier to use to capture ideas, store them, and email them. For future thought, I think this product will eventially help eliminate text in email conversation altogether. Looks like it's on the cutting edge of the next level of consumer internet technology. Email is great because you can send someone a message without having to worry about tracking them down on the phone or getting through to them. The only problem with text email is that it takes 10 times as long to create your message as it does to just talk on the phone. QuickVoice combines the practical aspects of email with the practical aspects of phone conversation. Awesome idea. Finally! Brian

First launch causes an error in opening preferences on a G4 QuickSilver and on an iBook 700 Mhz. Second and subsequent launches are free from the pref error. App is easy to work and it looks as if future incarnations will produce even more features and clarity. The choice of skins is good. I added it to my list of permanent apps.
