QuickDic Dictionary is an educational app designed for Android users seeking a reliable offline language resource. It allows access to dictionary files sourced from Wiktionary, supporting both translation and single-language dictionaries. Users can download these dictionaries directly within the app, enhancing their language learning experience. A notable feature is the text-to-speech capability, which enables users to hear pronunciations by long-pressing on words, provided the appropriate text-to-speech data for the selected language is installed.

This application is particularly advantageous for those who require an offline solution, as it eliminates the need for an internet connection. QuickDic Dictionary is actively maintained, with users encouraged to report any issues through its GitHub page. Additionally, the source code is available for review, appealing to those interested in the app's development. A beta version is also offered, allowing users to explore new features as they are rolled out.

Developer’s Description

Android offline dictionaryAttempt to restore the removed QuickDic app.
This is largely for users surprised by the removal of the original QuickDic app.The original dictionary files got lost, it offers some I had locally, some I was sent and I regenerated all EN-* ones - but I am very unsure of the quality. To restore more I would need some help, get in touch if you have other dictionary files or know how to better create new ones, or spot any significant issues with the new dictionaries.Source code is available here: https://github.com/rdoeffinger/Dictionary but no documentation so far.Uses data from Wiktionary and Beolingus to generate dictionary files that can be used offline. These can be downloaded from within the app.Recent changes:- New and regenerated German, French and Italian dictionariesPrevious versions:- Less cluttered and smaller English dictionary- Smaller APK- Some more old dictionaries restored- More font choices available- Bug fixes (crash on rotate, search overlap with up/down buttons)Completely newly generated dictionaries (up-to-date, but might have issues, tell me if there are significant issues compared to the original wiktionary data).Content rating: Everyone
