  Being an entrepreneur, pdf conversion is a daily task and this software has been helpful in performing quite well for me.

• A copy of 123pdfconverter. Both can't perform OCR!

  Pros

  None for the OCR functionality.

  Cons

  This is a copy of 123PDFConverter in disguise, which you may take as an insult. Both programs could not convert a clean image to text. OCR function is useless. I would expect at least one word out of a half-page text image to be correctly identified.

  Tried to just convert PDF (tried several from several different sources) to Word and all I got was blank pages with the publishers disclaimer at the bottom. It apparently considered the whole PDF as an "image" because the only way I got ANYTHING was when "preserving the images"; that gave me an uneditable image but no text. When trying to convert to Excel, MS Excel gave me dire warnings that the file was not safe to open. Being adventure-some, I took the chance ... got another Excel message in a red filled box that warned about opening the file. I didn't continue. The support page said the problem could be one of two problems. One, that MS wasn't installed (not a problem). Two, that it may have used 'Text Only' or 'Formatted Text' option during the conversion of the text. Says that these options dispose of the pictures during conversion. In this case use the other options "Flowing Text" or "As Is" to preserve the pictures. Tried flowing and as-is options, no success.

  Saved two days of work. I was able to convert only those pages that were required for my research.

  I had no problem using it.

  Summary

  I had a voluminous PDF documents from which I needed a few pages for my research. I tried this software after four other tools failed half way because it had too many pages to convert. I was planning to recreate the content manually, but partial conversion feature of Quick PDF Converter saved the day.

• Brilliant tool for editing pdf files

  Pros

  As the name suggests, this tool is pretty quick in document conversion. It converted my pdf file to .doc format which i edited in ms word. I also converted it to .pdf again after editing.

  Cons

  None so far.

  Converted a number of pdf files without losing any formatting. Does not give random special characters instead of common text like the one tool that i tried before buying quick pdf.

  Pros

  Nothing Pro about this rubbish. CNET's ten half-star rating is not as advertised, but is actually a nine half-star rating with one extra half-star for "good luck". So please interpret the CNET half-star rating as the 0-star rating that this program deserves.

  Cons

  Installation took nearly one hour. Interface clearly based on old Windows dialogues - probably even programmed in BASIC. I tested on simple PDF files I had created myself from MS Word 2007 documents. results were at least consistent. After a long time, the program crashed, and entered the Visual Studio debugger. it never produces any output - not even a partial document or even temporary files.

  It quickly converted PDF document into editable MS Word Doc file. I also extracted the images and graphs from the PDF file.

  Pros

  I made corrections to PDF file in ms word by converting it to .doc format. The text, images and page orientation was retained perfectly after conversion.
