• Simple way to create powerful PDA installer files

  Pros

  We've used this to create our Windows Mobile installer files, and it couldn't be easier. Drag,drop, tick some tickboxes and Build. There is also a PocketPC Installer Professional product, with Smartphone & wince compatibility, and their website says existing users of this product will receive the Professional product free. Well worth the $75 asking price!!

  Pros

  Have you tried to create an install using VS 2005? It's tough and complicated ... with Pocket PC installer (PPI) just create the cab and drop it onto the interface ... leave the rest up to PPI ... and reviewer #1 is wrong - the installed program DOES show up in the REMOVE PROGRAMS section. I was able to customize with my own graphic - it creates both a desktop installer and a PDA installer ... for me it's hard to flaw this product ...

  setups created with this program do not show up on the device uninstall. <p>When the user installs a setup created with this program, it does not allow the user to install to a location of there choice

  Pros

  As a Windows Embedded developer I can't rely on the device having tools I use such as the Compact Framework or Sql Server CE already installed. Having the customer install these items is a pain, as well the support calls that occur if the customer misses installing one of the dependencies. When I downloaded this program, it was an easy decision to purchase it. Its easy to use, everything behaves they way you think it should. Being able to deploy from the handheld device or desktop with one click is perfect. The advanced options cover everything you could possibly want in an install.

  Pros

  I've been using this for three weeks now, and it's the best product I've seen to create a simple installer.exe file for my devices. It feels like using a program like WinZip, but with a few extra tickboxes to say which files are relevant to which devices. <p> <p>The fact that it creates an installer for your PC *aswell* is a real bonus. <p> <p>It's quick, easy-to-use, and very cheap for an installer creating program. <p> <p>Well worth taking for a test drive.

  Cons

  It's a shame it doesn't support Smartphones or .Net devices, but what it does do, it does very well. And annoyingly, it doesn't support restoring registry values (but apparently this is being looked into).
