PixWords is a game that uses picture clues to help you solve mini crossword puzzles and advance on to more challenging levels. As you solve more and more puzzles, the clues get harder and more obscure, but you have a few lifelines you can use, as long as you can afford them.
This game has an accessible interface that makes for a very enjoyable user experience. When you first open it, you can select the language you'd like to play in from multiple options including English, Spanish, Dutch, French, Italian, Portuguese, and more. Then it's time to start a game. Each level consists of a four-section crossword-type puzzle where each of the words intersects with two others. The highlighted word is the one depicted in the photo clue on the right-hand side, and the letters at the bottom of the screen are all you have to work with when filling in the blank spots. While you can't use more letters than are present on the screen, you almost certainly won't use all of them in any one word. When you get a word right, you earn a coin, which can be used later on if you get stuck to purchase some help. Help is also available for free by asking a friend through the app.
This game is free, and you can play in multiple languages if you choose. This could be a good tool for practicing a new language that you're learning, or it could just be a new way to enjoy crossword puzzles. Either way, though, it's a fun diversion -- and it's free, so there's really no reason not to give it a try.
