If you're not picky about design and just want to get a Web site up with text, pictures, and a navigation bar, PersonalWebKit can do the job quickly. You choose one of PersonalWebKit's attractive page templates, then fill in the details using the extremely spare (and frankly unattractive) tabbed interface. The program supplies a standard set of text-editing features, including outlining and bulleting. Just don't expect to do any direct HTML editing--that's definitely not PersonalWebKit's forte. Adding links is very simple. You even can link some parts of the text with PDF, DOC, or media files, which the program automatically uploads to your Web host along with your site. There's also a function for building picture galleries, and extensive help makes the program even more beginner-friendly. The demo now allows you to access all the program's features for the purpose of building one Web site. That's enough to show that PersonalWebKit produces tidy, attractive, and functional results, which is all its target audience really needs to know.

Crashes Repeatedly
castlemcNovember 3, 2008
Pros
Just what I wanted - a Website design program for novices. Simple to use with many commands similar to other programs such as word processors. Alas, too good to be true.
Cons
I spent hours learning this program and then tried using it. It has crashed five times in three hours even after I followed the recommendation to uninstall and reinstall. I have XP on a Dell Dimension with 2.8 GHz processor and 1 GB of memory.
Summary
This program is now free and they no longer offer a version that requires payment. Now we know why. BTW, there is no support period.
It might be good for real newbies

Fast & Easy if you need a basic site fast

Pros
NOW FREE: Easy to create a single website using peformatted templates. Able to import your own photos and simple edit them within the program; creates basic photo gallery. Can create multiple websites if you rename the default folder your website is created in (hassle). Overall, a very good very basic WYSIWYG web page creator.
Cons
As of June 1, 2007, no longer selling registered versions of PersonalWebKit<p>They decided to take a break from selling the Registered Version and are providing the FREE version only for the time being for these reasons:<p> * Staff will be enjoying some much deserved holidays.<p> * Since we they have started to get very good response to the FREE version, they decided to concentrate on that. <p> The FREE version of PersonalWebKit 3.3 is also allowed to be used for small business websites.<p>In order to respect those people whom have recently purchased a Registration Code the FREE version is still limited by: * Only allowing a single website to be built. * Maintaining a marketing link at the bottom right of all websites built with PersonalWebKit.

Pros
Program has standard set of features that are useable
Cons
The software is so crippled by limitations and restrictions that it is difficult to evaluate it. They will not get my money for a piece of basic software that they are not prepared to allow a reasonable use for evaluation. There isnt even a fully free version that will work without crippled limitation. Crippleware should be avoided, as it will waste your time.

Pros
Excellent program if you want to get a website really quick. I built my first website in an hour including putting in my pictures. Help files were good. <p>I changed my design a lot....that's one thing I love about this that other programs cant do. Change your design in a minute. <p> <p>I used the demo till it ran out then bought it. I've made a couple more sites since. <p> <p>Great for non-geeks like me :)
Cons
I'd like to see more Photo Gallery stuff.
