In Windows 8 Microsoft provides its own Metro-style application called Windows Reader for viewing Adobe's popular document format. Windows Reader presents a very simple full-screen experience, like other Metro-styled apps. However, if you need more functionalities or need to collorately work with other native applications on the same desktop, you would defintely need a native PDF reader. PDF Viewer for Windows 8 is such a reader that offers decent capabilities and performance as well as versatile functionalities as a native application and is extremetly useful for those that typically stick to the Windows 8 desktop experience.

Major Features:

View and Print PDF.Open, view, read, and print Adobe PDF files of all versions.

View ModesPDF Viewer for Windows 8 sports three reading modes, Fit Page, Center Page, and Continuous.

Navigation.In Continous view, you can swipe left and right, use the left and right arrow keys, or click the pop-up, browser-like navigational controls that appear to move through the document. But in Center Page and Fit Page view, viewer behaves like a traditional document-based, traditional Windows application and utilizes vertical navigation instead. In this mode, you can move through the document by pressing PAGE UP or PAGE DOWN key, or by utilizing the scroll bars that appear on the right side of the application.

Zoom.Zooming works as it does elsewhere: with Delete (zoom out) and Insert (zoom in) keyboard shortcuts.

Rotate.You can optionally rotate the current document clockwise or anticlockwise.

Enhanced Mouse Wheel Scrolling.Scroll your mouse wheel up and down to view PDF pages.

Pros
The native metro app on windows 8 failed to print some PDFs which were coded with older software. Downloaded this and it worked like a charm.
Cons
The software tries to bundle some browser addins at the time of installations. Take care to uncheck those pesky boxes.

Pros
I downloaded a preview copy of Windows 8.1, and frustrated, no Microsoft PDF reader or PDF viewer that allows me to view multiple PDF documents on my screen. Searched a while, and found this PDF viewer, and it does its promise...open, view, and print PDF files on Windows 8.1.
Cons
More features can be added, such as crop/cropping, extract/extraction.

Too limited in its features. No pdf contents pane so very hard to jump chapters and contents. The page display is not nearly as good as popular viewers.

This is spookily Very similar to the Cool pdf reader - it looked no different and behaved in the same way, to me anyway. If you just require a simple viewer than go for either. But for more features for a pdf reader, go for one of the popular ones.

Pros
One nice feature is the save as text option, although it only works a page at a time. It seems to handle word spacing and multiple columns better than some other free PDF converters. Pictures are also extracted as JPGs when you save the page as text.
Cons
Designed for Windows 8, not compatible with Windows 7.
