PDF Split Merge Pages inserts a watermark into every image you extract. You can't even get one free extraction before you have to buy the full version. So much for try before you buy!

Pros
Seems to work with all pdf files, which is not the case of some competitors. Generous trial time (30 days) but if you like the program you're eager to register because of the watermark.
Cons
No-frill screen, reminiscent of the MS-DOS era, with customizable but flashy colors. The watermark on the trial version is much too obtrusive, even if it's normal to prevent a commercial use of the program for free.
