Experience a straightforward voice-amplification utility: One Button Megaphone, developed by Pete not Pete, turns an Android smartphone into a portable bullhorn. The app routes the device microphone to an external speaker and offers one-tap activation for instant projection, plus Bluetooth and wired AUX support for speaker connections. It adds noise cancellation, echo suppression, and a safety alert for missing external speakers. Event organizers, teachers, tour guides, and volunteers benefit from quick setup and low-latency audio for short outdoor public-address tasks.

Designed to run on a broad range of handsets, the app accepts devices that typically require Android 4.1 or higher. The installer is deliberately small, which makes on-site installation feasible when event staff need to set up multiple devices. The developer is an independent maker focused on minimalist Android utilities, which explains the focused, single-purpose design and limited configuration surface.

Built for quick deployment on older Android devices

Suitable for background operation during short events

The app's compact footprint and single-function approach keep runtime demands modest, so it can operate during short announcements without tying up other mobile tasks. In addition, Bluetooth speaker quality affects audible latency and clarity, so wired AUX remains the most predictable path for uninterrupted projection. Reports indicate hardware-dependent variation, which makes a quick check of speaker pairing advisable before large gatherings.

Built-in protections reduce the risk of feedback

Feedback protection is included to prevent loud internal speaker loops that can harm hearing. The app provides an option to disable the external-speaker safety check, but that setting is discouraged because it typically triggers high-pitched feedback if the device uses its internal speaker. Consider testing the safety toggle in a quiet space and keep volume moderated while establishing connections to external amplification gear.

Minimal controls suit non-technical operators, with physical button support

The interface avoids menus and focuses on immediate operation, making it appropriate for teachers or tour guides who need quick access. Physical-button mapping extends hands-free control by letting the device's hardware buttons toggle the microphone. Nevertheless, users who require multi-zone coverage or advanced equalization will find the app too basic; it is intended as a simple on-the-spot amplifier rather than a substitute for dedicated public-address systems.

  • Pros

    • One-tap activation for immediate voice projection
    • Supports Bluetooth and wired AUX speaker connections
    • Built-in feedback protection to prevent internal speaker loops
    • Small installer size for quick on-site deployment
  • Cons

    • Audio quality and latency depend on external speaker hardware
    • Not designed for multi-zone or advanced sound shaping
    • Disabling safety check typically triggers loud feedback

Bottom Line

A practical choice for immediate amplification, with a single hardware-dependent limit

The app suits organizers who need a low-overhead, single-purpose tool for short announcements and impromptu gatherings. Its focused design keeps setup time low and installation small, but the primary trade-off is reliance on the connected speaker: audio clarity and latency depend on external hardware quality. Test the speaker pairing on-site beforehand.

Developer’s Description

Simple, easy to use megaphone app.

Simple, easy to use megaphone app. Use the microphone in your phone to send your voice to an external speaker with this easy to use mic to speaker app.

Connect your phone's internal microphone to an external speaker (wired or Bluetooth), press the button and you can now use your device like a bullhorn. Easily make loud announcements with your phone's mic and an external speaker. No additional AV equipment required.

*** If the app says your device isn't connected to a speaker and you think it is, it is possible to disable the warning by going into settings (settings button at bottom right) and selecting the "Remove external speaker check." checkbox. Note that this is not recommended, because it will allow the app to use the internal phone speaker, which causes horrible feedback. You have been warned.
