  Their installations are handled by a third-party installer based in California via a "late" phone call. The stated deliverable of the phone call was to explain how to "turn on the system and other very basic information. The on-site installer could only connect the hardware and had zero knowledge/experience with the system. That is not SOP (standard operating procedure) in the restaurant industry. I've personally opened hundreds of restaurants and the normal POS support includes loading the menu "and" recipes to document all of the ingredients used in each menu item sold, i.e., if a restaurant sold a fully loaded burger the POS software would subtract from the inventory the bun, meat patty(s), pickles, mayo, etc. It would also subtract the paper-goods and any other condiments associated with each sale. This is a required feature offered in the "regular" NCR system that is missing in their "Silver" option. A "normal" point of sale (POS) installation would include two days of installation with training and at least one day of on-site support during opening day. Can you imagine experiencing a problem (which will happen) during opening day with customers lined out the door and your system goes down? You are left to reading the manual with a person from California on the line, if they answer. One other important point--NCR does "not" offer Silver outside of the United States because it is not ready for prime-time. Maybe that is why it's Silver and not "Gold". Of course I was not told this by their sales department because of their lack of experience in the restaurant space.
