For Ubi to stick a file called "vpd.properties" into my HOME DIRECTORY (and not even .vpd.properties -- YEESH!) is really, really stupid and lame. And it's going to drive me nuts. Grrr.. As for this installer being all done in Java, I think that's pretty cool. Probably they could make this work properly from Java if they put a little more work into it.
Today, I'm a happy guy :)

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I'm a long time fan of the Myst series but when i herd Myst 4 had very high system requirements, i was scared. I have a Ti-Book 667mh with 32mb VRAM and 1Gb RAM running OS 10.3. I downloaded the demo and it won't run at all. it just wouldn't launch (i was in tears). but i'm kinda nuts, so i went out and got the game anyway. I did a full install with no trouble. Then i updated it to 1.01, witch went fine for me. IT RUNS!! :) not only does it run but very well. I can even put the rez up all the way and it's still pretty smooth. smooth enough for a Myst lover like me at least. I have had some problems though, in certain lighting situations i get some weird transparent blocks floating around the scene. This is more pronounced when running at 800X600 so i use the lower resolution and it's not as bad. Despite some graphics bugs probably due to my less then sufficient Ti-Book. the game is very playable. O yea it's also the most beautiful thing it's ever scene. (yea I'm pretty hardcore) I kind of have a felling it's not that long though, due to the low price, they give you 2 games, and the layout of the fist age. But i could be wrong. i hope so. I was real worried when they released "URU" for PC only. I would buy a new mac to run a myst game, but not a PC. Nice to see them still supporting the platform that started the series in the first place. Hope you all have as much success running the game as i have.
