MyShake APK for Android

MyShake is a free educational utility designed to provide earthquake warnings in California, Oregon, and Washington. Developed by the UC Berkeley Seismological Laboratory, the app sends out alerts for significant earthquakes, specifically those with magnitudes of 4.5 and higher, allowing users to prepare for potential shaking. Users can receive notifications based on their location and customize alerts for loved ones, enhancing personal safety during seismic events. The app also supports citizen science initiatives, enabling users to report their experiences and contribute to earthquake research.

The application employs a system called Homebase to establish default alert locations, facilitating timely notifications for users in affected areas. MyShake is available in both English and Spanish, broadening its accessibility. While some users have reported issues with the alert tone being too quiet and the app providing coordinates instead of named locations for earthquakes, it remains a valuable tool for monitoring seismic activity and promoting earthquake readiness.
