Multimedia Protector protects important documents, conference materials, e-learning software, company presentations, etc., against being copied and tampered with. Companies, for example, can safeguard conference materials against misuse, information designed for the sales force against disclosure and course and workshop contents against data theft. Every document that can be printed using a printer driver can also be protected using Multimedia Protector. Additional programs like Flash-Player, PPT or PDF Reader are not required - all required components are contained in the Multimedia Player.The protection is applied by encrypting and storing all files of a project, e.g. a flash application with images, video, audio and other files, in one sole database. The original file formats cannot be accessed by unauthorized users.Multimedia Protector is supplied along with its own Multimedia Player which does not require an installation on the customer's PC. All types of media, like CDs, DVDs, Downloads or USB sticks, are supported. Multimedia Protector contains pre-defined sequences of operation, so that the user will not need any programming skills for creating a project to be protected, for instance a DVD-ROM containing software that the author wants to distribute or supply as a time-limited version or a test version with activation options. When the project is created, all types of license check can be provided for as well.Another convenient option is the online activation, which, however, is an exclusive feature of the Premium Version (requires a web activation server or hosting service). The Multimedia Protector Premium Edition also supports network licenses of the protected products.The elements checked via the integrated Multimedia Player are the time limits of the test versions, the copy protection, the contents protection of documents, and the administration of network licenses.

Buggy, complicated to use, poor support, expensive.

Pros
None really. Our comapny agrees with the previous review. Simply does not work well. Can take several tries to get it to protect the document. Too much trouble to use and way too often the clients have trouble trying to open the protected files.
Cons
Lots of bugs. Hangs up. Often will not work at all. Complicated system to install protection. VERY expensive, especially if you want the online activation option as it requires a monthly additional fee. Otherwise you have to email users the key every time. Not practical for large client bases as you answer too many of their problem-opening-file emails. Support from Mirage is slow and iffy.
Summary
Not recommended. You money will be better spent on some other option.

- Protection seemed to work (too well at time - would lock out legitimate users occasionally) - For Flash, allowed extended project functionality (but buggy)

Summary
* Advise using different product * Our company purchased Multimedia Protector to secure a software application that we had intended to distribute on USB keys. After extensive testing of the trail software, several errors were found. Mirage Computer Systems corrected these errors through an ongoing dialog during the evaluation period of the software. We then, regrettably, purchased Multimedia Protector. After implementing it, however, several more subtle errors cropped up that, despite our best efforts, forced us to abandon the software entirely (vs. risk a recall of our software). When this was brought to Mirage's attention, they first blamed us, and then stopped returning our emails. Although we only tested the USB protection function of Multimedia Protector, I suspect the entire software has not been adequately tested. I would strongly caution anyone from purchasing this software, as the software itself appears to be flawed. Furthermore, Mirage's customer service is, when faced with serious problems, abysmal.
