• A swiss-army knife of Linux core-tools - for windows

  Pros

  Tabbed window for managing all your remote connections as well as local shells. TinyBox emulates Linux on windows without the hassle of installing packages. Pramatic tool; tweakable; under active development; great for students.

  Cons

  Personal edition customization is limited.

  Summary

  Get it, it's simplifies the hell out of connecting to Servers as well as helping others do likewise. Being able to do "Linux" commands on the fly, without hassle, is very handy.

  I wish the professional edition was given for free too!

  Summary

  MobaXterm is really convenient, especially when you have multiple SSH servers to reach, files to transfer and graphical applications to launch remotely, and when you care about security. For my personal need, the free edition provides enough functions, but I am considering purchasing the pro edition in order to customize it ;-)

  I thought CNET was a trusted download source, but apparently not. This exe installed three programs and a bunch of Chrome add-ons. Disgusting. Go to their real website.

  Pros

  I like all the features it provides, especially the fact that I can scroll in vim using the mouse!

  Cons

  Stuck after running for a day or so. It becomes unresponsive and seems to cause issue with windows (7). This happens with version 6.1. I have not tried older verdions yet!

  Summary

  Good if you dont leave it running overnight, which for me is a deal breaker since I often run scripts overnight.

  Pros

  xterm, built in cgywin (unix like interface on windows) so i do not have to use cmd; i could run find, grep, vi to open dos file under windows.

  Cons

  not major,cannot have different colours for different unix terminal, helps identify production server vs developement with colouring as in putty. cannot run multiple instances on the machine, cannot tear out tab; helpful during dev on multi monitors.

  Summary

  for a free version i cannot ask for more so i have given 4*'s. product has not crashed, very solid. definitely worth a try.

  Pros

  No installation needed, fast and stable. You can carry it in your pendrive and use it at any computer. The X server works fine.
