- Summary
- This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br /> the good: very simple and straightforward, requires no explanation, shows elapsed/remaining time in a way that works perfectly for my visually-oriented brain. the bad: the preferences are reset to their defaults every time the app is quit! it's as if the app doesn't even have a preferences file (maybe it doesn't). so if i don't want the timer to make any sounds (which i don't), i need to go into the preferences and set each of three popup menus to "None" all over again, every time i run the app. neither is the duration remembered that i chose at the last use. so if i plan to use the same timer duration over and over, i can't just launch the app and click "start," but rather i need to open the preferences, reset each of the three popup menus to "none", plus set the timer back to my desired duration every time the app is run. tedious! the basic functionality of the app is great and its very simple appearance is all i need, but the thing MUST learn to retain its user-determined preferences; ideally, there should be a checkbox in the prefs labeled "remember settings across launches" that would give the user the option to choose with one click whether the app should launch with its default preferences or its preferences as set at the last use.
