Metal Fatigue is a real-time strategy game that follows the story of three brothers caught up on opposite sides of a war over the riches of a long-dead alien civilization. Set in a fully 3D world with multiple camera angles, Metal Fatigue stands apart from the genre with its numerous innovations: giant, reconfigurable Combots; three-level play; artificial intelligence from award-winning game designer, Mark Baldwin; and a prebuild phase that gives the player enough time to establish a base before being attacked.

Standing over four stories high, and configured with a deadly arsenal of advanced weaponry, the Combot is the ultimate weapon of war in the 23rd century. Each Combot has five parts: two legs, two arms, and a torso. When playing Metal Fatigue, you will be able to reconfigure your Combots to suit the impending battle scenario. For instance, a heavy attack Combot might consist of a rotary blade arm, plasma cannon arm, a missile-launching torso, and armored legs. Once a body part is manufactured, it can be exchanged with other Combots or replaced with newly manufactured body parts. In addition, you can even amputate the limbs of your enemy Combots and reuse their parts against them.

Nice game.

Pros
I loved this game when I was a kid, and now I wanted to download it again to recall a little nostalgia ^_^ unfortunately it crashes whenever I complete a mission or when a combot's arm falls off :( The reason why I wanted to download the demo is because when I pick up a torso with a hover truck it won't change color nor the shape so I can build a combot like the enemy's :D but yeah, sadly it doesn't work. It only worked back when I played it on my Windows 98 machine.
Cons
Not so much.. If anyone could tell me how to get the DEMO working not the full game cause I can run the full game perfectly too, then I would highly appreciate it :)

It's a fun, creative strategy game Allows you to freely control your own world Robots are awesome Its MAC compatible!

Slow download time The game itself is a little on the slow side, but that just might be my computer. In the game, it takes SOOOO long to make things.

This is an ultimate Rts game, and has many inovations in that group like combots which have many options to regenerate like pick up parts from other robots scrap...That could be used in many modern Rts games but it seems that the idea is sunk down with time...

There isnt anything I dont like except that there are no updates, patches or so, the team that developed this game isnt payed anymore to develop the game so...

Pros
Most RTS's (real-time strategy) give you vehicles, and occasionally a hero which is basically an enhanced vehicle. This game gives you tanks, jets, ..., but also COMBOTS. These are gigantic mechs which you can build to have various combinations of arms, torsos and legs. Very fun to configure different combots and see how they do. <p> <p>The single-player campaigns are great for learning the game. Multiplayer is great too, but slows down considerably with lots of units.
Cons
The idea of orbit, surface and underground layers and the ability to send units between layers is nice, but finishing a map where the opponent has hidden one unit underground is frustrating.

This game is incredible. It is definitely the greatest RTS ever created. It tops Starcraft and Command and Conquer with little work. The only reason this game didn't sell is because it doesn't have online support. If they came out with an online upgrade, I'd mistake it for heaven.
