MAGIX Xtreme Print Studio offers a fairly easy tool for creating cases and labels for your CDs and DVDs. It's not the most intuitive program we've used, but with a bit of experimentation, we caught on pretty quickly.

It's not always easy to find what you're looking for in the program's interface. For example, we couldn't find an Insert button or command for adding images to our work. What we wanted was actually the Import command, but in searching the Help file we learned that you can also drag and drop images from Explorer. We like that the program comes with a variety of templates for different CD and DVD packages, although it might not be obvious to everyone which template needs to be used for a particular project. Perhaps our favorite feature was the Edit Playlist function; this brings up a separate screen where users can select a cover image and then enter the title and duration of each track. This makes for an extremely quick and easy way to create basic CD packaging that you can leave as-is or customized further by adding more images, liner notes, and more. Overall, we found the program fairly easy to use, and we think it's a much better choice than using a Sharpie and an index card--not that we've ever done that!

MAGIX Xtreme Print Studio is free, although it does require registration after seven days. It installs and uninstalls without issues. We recommend this program to all users.

Few. Relatively easy if you just want to do a CD/DVD case front and back.

Many. If you don't do everything in the sequence the programs decided they should be done, YOU HAVE TO START OVER! No wizard. No hints where to start. Nada. I also couldn't line up labels to print correctly. Only one type of label template included

Look elsewhere. There are many other programs out there that do a better job, and do it MUCH easier! The free software from Memorex works fine, ad do others.

You can actually play with the text around the pictures you have set on your layout; you can format the text vertically so it can be read vertically (not many programs that I've came across can do that);

The Help Files: it seems to me that some parts are written for another program, the upgrade program... for instance, the explanation about typing along a curved line, the explanation does not correspond. This is the only thing against I found

GREAT program, worth a try, the big PROS go to the text features because you can play around with your 'pieces' of text everywhere on the layout.. As far as pictures, you can resize them vertically and horizontally. I worked only with DVD covers and I was amazed with what I was finding in this program along the way

It still requires a lot of work - programmers ought to ask users for feedback on how best they can change features to suit users better.
Summary
The track list template is not editable, cannot reduce width of individual frames of template. I find this a bit annoying. Also, after writing the CD with CD-writing software, there is no import feature to prevent having to retype the entire track list again.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Jan 27, 2010<p/>What I forgot to mention was there is no CD Cover reverse. I am accustomed to printing the cover and placing my details on the reverse of the cover. There is no way to do this.

Everybody comes into the situation to create an own CD cover at least once in alifetime. This can help you out! free, fast and easy. You even can create whole covers and inlays out of the helpful preset-layers. I totaly recommend MAGIX little helper!
