7.1 1.4.1 does NOT work for Mac OS 10.4.11.
7.1 1.6 DOES, and it works very well.
Cons
I have OS 10.4.11 on a Mirror Door G4. Version 7.1 1.4.1 will not work, period. Version 1.6, Build 19 is described as for OS 1.5 but it DOES work just fine for 10.4.11.
Summary
I tried for days to get 1.4.1 and other versions to work for Mac OS 10.4.11. I was so ticked off at M-Audio that I was ready to throw the PCI card into the trash! Then as a last attempt, I tried version 1.6. Lo and behold - it works even though M-Audio states that it is for 1.5!
Every time I download the M-Audio app I get the warning that it might damage the OS. That's a bug - it won't hurt your OS, so go ahead with the install.
Sayonara M-Audio.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Kernel panics, worthless customer support, horrendous site support, sparse updates, ad infinitum. We've wasted more time than it's worth, constantly troubleshooting our M-Audio audio interfaces, pci cards, etc along with their respective drivers. It's beyond ridiculous. I'm astonished any Mac users actually invest in M-Audio products anymore. Needless to say we've pulled all M-Audo products from our studio and wouldn't consider any of their products ever again, under any circumstances. The very least we could do was add our two cents to the site for others to consider with the rest of their buying advice.
One more reason to stop buying M-Audio Products

This is the 2nd pile of junk M-Audio product I've purchased. It will be the last.
Still not up to snuff.

Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This latest release seems to have solved most of the problems I was having with kernel panics, which is a welcome improvement. However, despite getting in contact with their tech support about this issue in the 1.4.0 drivers, it hasn't been fixed:
If the system volume is turned below about 1/3, the sound cuts out completely. In addition, sound levels have dropped considerably. When using the 1.2.9 drivers, I leave the system volume at around 1/2, which is more that adequate for room-filling sound. As of 1.4.0, the only way to get comparable volume is to turn the system volume to the max, and when I do, I'm noticing a decrease in sound quality: it's as though the sound is being run through some sort of muffling filter. Completely unacceptable.
Their tech support is utterly useless. Most times, I never get a reply, and when I do, it's usually a canned response. My card once again returns to paperweight status until M-Audio gets their act together. Worst computer-related purchase in the last several years.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
With the 1.4 update, MacOS X 10.4 (and 10.4.1) will not restart/shutdown. I've heard that downgrading to the 1.29 driver solves this issue, but that driver is also known to cause kernel panics. I've yanked this card from my Mac until M-Audio can get it together.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Finally, after a couple years of accepting the 'issues' with the Revolution 7.1, I've given up. I've removed the card from my computer and I'm using the built in Mac sound card.
I just couldn't take the crashes from playing iTunes for a prolonged period of time and playing world of warcraft just caused my machine to hang every fifteen minutes. Ever since I removed the card, it's been smooth sailing. I'm a little afraid of trying the latest patch..

When it's installed, iChat and iMovie HD don't register the iSight's microphone. Removed all M-Audio software, the mic came back. I wrote them about this but have heard nothing yet...

What's happened to the Mac support of this audio card?
Looks like M-Audio doesn't care about the consumer side of the Mac market.
On December 2003, an M-Audio's marketing manager, sayd:
>>"I expect new drivers for Revo 7.1 by end of February or before"
Where are the new drivers?
The Linux drivers get updated more often than the Mac drivers!

Everything worked great until Panther. M-Audio must get its act together if they ever expect to see a penny of mine ever again.
