Editors’ Review
Like a suite of tools wrapped into a small package, LockEnd covers a gamut of functions for the privacy-minded user. LockEnd's interface is cute, but not completely unprofessional. The program window is easy to figure out without a manual. The privacy functions are primarily file-related. You can easily encrypt, decrypt, or store most user files into a folder vault. Documents, images, and even music take seconds, and little user intervention, to effectively hide from prying eyes.
Users also can easily monitor their systems. Tools to monitor your PC take seconds to set up, and effectively report programs used, keystrokes, and screen captures. With only a couple of mouse clicks, you can quickly block floppy drives, USB drives, CD-ROMs, and even the Internet. The trial enables all these functions, but limits them to a few items or uses.
LockEnd isn't as easy to use during installation. You're forced to a particular installation directory and must reboot your system to enable the application. Opening the program the first time forces the user to make certain decisions without explaining the needs or consequences. Despite its drawbacks, this quick and effective application will meet the needs of privacy-minded individuals.
