You are frantically summoned to your friend's lighthouse home to babysit his 1-year-old daughter Amanda. When you arrive, your friend is gone--and you see a terrifying, humanoid creature snatch Amanda from her crib, leap into a portal that has opened in the room, and disappear. When you follow, you embark on an adventure in a different world. There you discover various contraptions and vehicles you must learn to use, and a strange adversary that must be overcome as you rescue your friend and his baby.

Good storyline. Makes you think. I really like that it's kind-of a "treasure hunt" game.
Cons
The puzzle box is difficult. I haven't been able to play this game for YEARS!!!! I thought it had been discontinued, so I threw out my game disks. When I found & downloaded it, I hunted down the disks. Maybe I'll be able to finish it this time!!!
Summary
I like the fact that you can get a hint whenever you need it. I also like that you can't leave "your apartment" unless you have everything that's needed throughout the game.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Apr 16, 2009<p/>A WARNING 2 all who want this game........IF U DON'T RUN WINDOWS 95 OR 98, THE GAME WILL NOT WORK!!!!! BELIEVE ME!!!!! I KNOW!!!!!! I was so happy when I found Lighthouse 1.0 on Download.com. I knew it was the same game I used 2 have. I found the game CD's on Amazon.com & bought it. After I installed everything, I kept getting an error message. Well, I found out that SIERRA was bought out by another company that doesn't support ANY Sierra products. The game was made back n 1996 (I think). I know it's old. Anyway, I have WindowsXP so the game don't work on my system no matter what I try! Also, if you have already installed the game & it won't play, (run), UNINSTALL IT!!!! EVERY PART!!! If you leave it installed on your computer, it could damage or slow other programs. On the box itself that my game arrived n, it has a sticker on the side that says, "WIN 3.1 & WIN 95 CD-ROM" & "MAC SYSTEM 7.1+ CD ROM". I hope this addition 2 my review is helpful & u don't go thru what I did.
Well graphiced game for its time, an excelent story that youll always remember!!

Excelent Story, Excelent Graphics, Myst: Like Landscapes, Sound Quality is Unbelievable, Long and Dificult-this isnt a game you can get through in a few hours.

THis is a challenging game and veryyyy enjoyable. It gave me a little trouble until I got into the lighthouse but played beautifully after that. No matter what level player you are you will enjoy this game.

i luv this game! the thinking process your mind travels you through is amazing. instead of using 10%of your brain, your mind automaticly uses like, 90%!! although, when some facts are too easy to be true, it's okay to have a 2 year old by your side to ask you.. what's that?? and it turns out that that was the missing peice to open the pzzle box!
