The game delivers fully simulated physics, emphasizing precise control and aerodynamic realism. It includes single-player and multiplayer modes, allowing you to test your piloting under various conditions in structured races or open environments.

In Liftoff®: FPV Drone Racing, you can modify drones and even design tracks. The integration with physical radio transmitters is also supported, emphasizing simulation accuracy. It focuses on FPV racing mechanics, offering options tailored to technical control, modular drone builds, and highly specialized flight modeling throughout all gameplay modes.

Physics-based drone simulation

Each drone handles differently based on weight distribution, motor specs, and environmental factors. Liftoff®: FPV Drone Racing calculates thrust, drag, and inertia to approximate real-world performance. There’s a deliberate absence of arcade-style handling, so movement is dictated entirely by simulated aerodynamics. This makes precision control the defining interaction across all modes. However, there is no simplified control option for casual play.

You can create a customized drone using a wide variety of components, configurations, and frame styles. The system lets you swap motors, batteries, and propellers, adjusting drone stats and behavior accordingly. Each choice reflects actual performance differences, impacting speed, balance, and stability. This mechanic is paired with a workshop-style system where custom drones can be saved, reused, or shared. It allows experimentation, but always with behavior grounded in mechanical changes.

Track creation is also available, offering map editors and community integration. Players can place race gates, barriers, and environmental objects to construct tracks, then share them directly through the in-game browser. These tools rely on a grid-based placement system for precision and include options for terrain, lighting, and object density. Shared tracks are downloadable, adding variety across single and multiplayer sessions.

Enhanced dynamics and weather effects

The release of Version 1.7.0 marks a massive leap forward for Liftoff®: FPV Drone Racing, introducing the highly anticipated Physics 6.0 engine. This update moves away from scripted flight behaviors to a truly simulated environment, where every component interacts dynamically. It features a refined drag system that eliminates the floaty feeling of previous versions, providing a more grounded and responsive experience during high-speed maneuvers and technical cornering.

What’s more, Version 1.7.0 adds complex wind simulations to the single-player Free Flight mode, featuring five distinct presets with varying turbulence and speeds. Real-world hardware constraints have also been implemented, meaning unrealistic motor and battery combinations now face power limits to ensure authentic flight behavior. The latest release further enhances visual immersion with new Lens FX presets, mimicking the distortion of real FPV cameras. 

Sim racing, not simplified

Liftoff®: FPV Drone Racing delivers a simulator with consistent mechanics across drone types and environments. It offers detailed drone building, realistic flight physics, and user-generated content without shifting toward arcade-style racing.
