Editors' Review
Keynote for iOS enables you to create beautiful PowerPoint-style presentations directly on your iPhone or iPad. At only $9.99, Apple's presentation app is significantly cheaper than PowerPoint, which requires a Microsoft 360 subscription ($6.99 per month) if you want to do more than view presentations.
Pros
Attractive, highly customizable presentations: With Keynote for iOS, you're limited only by your own creativity. Start with one of 30 themes or build your own from scratch. Add striking transitions and objects (photos, text and object animations, 2D and 3D charts and graphs, and more) with a tap.
Easy edits: Double-tap a slide to reconfigure font styles, colors, backgrounds, margins, and more. Reorder slides with swipes.
Work across devices: With iCloud integration, you can work on a presentation across all your devices (including a PC browser at icloud.com with Keynote for iCloud), confident that it's always up to date.
Real-time collaboration: You can share your document with a team, view who's in the document, and follow their edits as they're making them -- all in real time.
Presentation by gesture: On your phone or tablet, you can tap or swipe to navigate, touch and hold to highlight, and pinch to exit the slideshow.
Apple integration: Apple designed Keynote to integrate with its other products. That's why you can stream presentations over AirPlay and Apple TV, highlight presentations with an Apple Pencil on an iPad Pro, and use the Keynote Remote Apple Watch app to direct a presentation from your Mac, iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch. You can also use your iPhone as a remote control to present on your Mac, iPad, or iPhone. To enable remotes on a Mac, go to Keynote Preferences, then Remotes. To enable on your phone or tablet, go to Keynote Tools, then Presentation Tools, then Allow Remote Control. Set up your remote by going to your presentation device and selecting your phone's name under your Wi-Fi network settings.
Cons
Apple only: There is no Keynote for Windows or Android; only Web-based apps.
Bottom Line
With its excellent design, presentation, and collaboration options, Keynote for iOS is a terrific PowerPoint alternative.
