  Installed and uninstalled easily.

  Cons

  Never did work. It saw my VOB file, but only as a fraction of a second instead of the 2+ hours that it was. It saw the full length of the AVI file, but would not convert either. The preview window opens when you hit Start, but then nothing happens.

  I am using it for a year now and it is still free. I remember when I started using it a year back, it did ask me to buy it. I contacted their customer support and they fixed the bug. It is free since.

  Well..it is a simple program with all the features I was looking for. Once I had a format issue but it was quickly resolved by installing a codec pack. I would recommand Windows 8 codec pack by Web Solution Mart. Solves all file format issues.

  NOT FREE, you can only convert smaller sized videos and it has a 30 day limit.Then it's 20$.

  Summary

  Not any better in features and performance than many other FREE video conversion softs. but if you want to really use this one you've got to pay up. Then when you go to their site Firefox WOT tells you that it has poor safety reputation. SO BEWARE!

  Doesn't seem to handle most good size files easily. The converted size, if it worked at all is smaller than the original and ususally is missing something. Also, I didn't find that there are very many choices in this product.

  Summary

  The are far better free conversion programs out there, such as "Any Video Converter" or "Oxelon Media Converter." Kates's Video Converter has a very small footprint and correspondingly small power. I believe it is too light a program for anyone serious about converting media.

  Pros

  This converter does an excellent job. It has the option of using older codecs such as CinePak and Intel codecs as well as the new ones. This was exactly what I was looking for when trying to place videos into old powerpoint 2000

  Cons

  Prompts you to register, which only requires an email address. Then it takes you to a web page that has information on purchasing a fake online webcam, kind of sketchy, but there is nothing malicious about the site.

  Summary

  This is solid software. It does what it claims and does it in a simple, basic, and reliable way. This is definitely going down in my treasure trove of freeware.
