  The current version is the 2.1 so go to the site and download it :) I tried a lot of programs, and the solution I found was to use audiograbber to rip the cd+g into mp3+g files and using this great program

  Pros

  Very stable. The most features for a free karaoke player/editor. I have an extensive mp3 Karaoke and cd+g collection and this one works the best for me.

  Pros

  wow the interface is much easier than anyother program... way too easy to use. very simple screens.. your player, the screen, and the tempos... that's it! and you can move them all around. I love it!

  Cons

  it does not have a SEARCH option when you try to find your CDG's. I have about 100GIG's of karaoke music. so... it's a pain, however, you can always open the windows explorer from windows xp, 7, or even windows 8!

  I used this for Youtube and people loved it. All I had to do to upload was film it with a recorder, replace the audio in WMM, and then save and upload! :D

• Great Free Player Even More Versatile With Full Version

  1) FREE 2) Plays multiple file formats &#38; CD/CD-G/DVD 3) Turns laptop/PC into karaoke machine 4) Easy to use 5) Create own karaoke video from CD/MP3 6) Full version exports to AVI for DVD authoring 7) KFN files available on Karafun website

  Does not allow pitch/tempo change on WMV-DVD-MP4 as is possible with KFN-CD-CD-G &#38; MP3 - but the former, for the most part, are not the files of choice &#38; I don't generally use them with this product anyway. KFN (Karafun) files are the most versatile.

  Summary

  With the free software, a laptop, a small mixer, a mic or two, and a GOOD set of PC speakers, boombox, guitar amp or portable PA system, you've got a great karaoke machine to move around to any room of the house or beyond. Or, hook up an old PC with all your karaoke files loaded on it to your home theater system &#38; big screen TV (you'll still want a small mixer). It's an instant karaoke party any time. Karafun will play CD, CD-G, MP3 &#38; Karafun (KFN) files with the ability to change pitch or tempo. It'll also play karaoke DVD, mp4, wmv &#38; mpg - but without the ability to change pitch or tempo. Karafun files are the most versatile and are available from the Karafun website. I purchased the full version which allows me to make my own Karafun karaoke files (KFN) from CDs or MP3s (as does the free version, albeit with diminished functionality). If you wish, the user-made KFN files from the full version can be converted to WMV, MPG, or best of all, AVI files to author and burn as karaoke DVDs, VCDs or SVCDs to play on any compatible karaoke equipment. I've used this product for about a year now, creating many of my own karaoke files and DVDs. There are many more features not mentioned here that are explained on the Karafun website. I'm very pleased with the results &#38; highly recommend the free (and especially) full version.

• Very flexible and full-feature karaoke software

  Pros

  The software is very easy to use, integrates well with external MIDI devices, and is compatible with a wide range of MIDI+karaoke files. Many program options exist to tailor the karaoke experience to the user or environment.

  Cons

  Nothing major so far. Under Vista, the software unsuccessfully attempts to register itself as an alternate for .WAV, .MID, .WMA, .MP3, etc. These files can still be played, but KaraFun does not show up under the Open With... menu.

  Summary

  For my needs, KaraFun is the perfect karaoke software for Windows.

• BEST free Karaoke Software. Reads Walmart Karaoke CDGs

  Pros

  This is clearly THE best free karaoke CDG player available. It is a self-contained, turnkey package with no need for 3rd party plugins. Most importantly, I can play Karaoke CDGs from Walmart directly from my PC CD or USB drive, with no need to rip.

  Cons

  For a free program, there is absolutely nothing wrong. This program simply outclasses all others.

  Summary

  Although this program will play commercial CDGs directly, I find that it works even better from karaoke .ZIP files. Make sure you also download audiograbber. I use audiograbber's "CD" function to "grab CDG tracks (Karaoke)" and "grab to .cdg + compressed". That way, I can keep all my favorite karaoke tracks on my hard drive, and I keep them in Karafun's playlist.

  Well it is pretty to look at on the viewer side. Nice backgrounds that you can specify if you want. Plays all the popular formats. Sounds like the songs that you can purchase are very professional. Song list is explorer like.

  Cons

  Song library is not searchable. No utility for ripping the CDG's to your hard disc, Only one player at a time. (most pro versions have two that you can crossfade).

  Summary

  The thing is that professional versions cost Much Much more than free. PCDJ VJ is upwards of 600 bucks for the pro version. This does what it is advertised to do in a very easy to use way. The backgrounds are spectacular and the songs (should you choose to purchase them) are nearly top grade.
