He was the brother of journalist Rais Amrohvi and Syed Muhammad Taqi, and husband of columnist Zahida Hina. He was good at Arabic, English, Persian, Sanskrit and Hebrew. Jaun Elia first collection of poetry Shayad was published in 1991, when he was 60.
