  I was/ am looking for a simple and flexible (free is a bonus) album program for web pages, I've found some I like, some I don't, and some I cannot puzzle out at all. This one is exceptional in that it's use is layed out by the author for simplicity, because JScript is a pain in the butt! This album is aesthetic in appearance and offers some really great features, except that there would be a lot of typing and proofing involved for large collections of photos. Each picture you would post requires (at least?) one line of code (this is explained in detail by the author how to do, very simply)in the configuration file. This is ok, but if you are like me then you have about 500 or more photos sitting on your server, this is a lot of work! If you are sharing only a few, or you just like to write code, then this is for you. I'm not spoiled by "point and click" software, but for some things, it can be more than just handy.

  This is not an installable program that you click to open and add files in some cute dialog window! It is merely javascript html pages that have to be configured to display your pictures. In order to use this album you have to know at least a little about editing html code. The supposed quickie script builder included gave error messages when pasted into the config file to add more photos to the album. Eventually what I did was a sequential addition of single then multiple lines, checking the output at every change to ensure it was still displaying properly. However once you manage to get past the code, you have a very decent looking album that can accomodate a very large number of images. As many as you can stand to add is my guess, the most I've added thus far is 105. The album is flexible in that you can view the images in the same window or in a separate browser window. It is a little restrictive to have the decription all in one line but it is a free script so you can't have it all.
