Into the Dead for iOS

Into the Dead transports you to a world filled with the walking dead where you have to keep moving to stay out of their grasp. As the ghostly apparitions come at you, out of the fog, you have to dodge left and right to keep going or gun them down in their tracks before they can grab you and take you down with them.

Pros

Controller options: Surviving in this game is all about being quick as you dodge oncoming zombies, which is why it's so nice to have your choice of controller configuration to facilitate this movement. You can stick with only Tilt controls if you want, which work quite well, or you can opt for Touch, Thumbstick, or Thumbstick Mirrored, all of which give you the control you want in the configuration you're comfortable using.

Good graphics: The graphics in this game strike just the right balance by creating a decidedly haunting feeling without making the screen too dark for you to see clearly what's coming at you. The walking dead in this game emerge out of the fog suddenly but slowly, and with enough warning to make the game challenging but not too frustrating at the same time.

Cons

Overwhelming ads: As you move through menus in this game, to view items you'd like to purchase or to adjust your settings, you'll have to contend with a lot of ads. In fact, an ad pops up every time you switch from one menu to another, and not just after every game, as is common in these types of games.

Bottom Line

Into the Dead is an engaging and challenging game that's free to download and play. There are quite a few items available for in-app purchase that you can't unlock through the normal course of gameplay, but none of these are required for you to continue to advance in the game.
