  Pros

  Very simple and does what it's supposed to. It can copy your color in hex, RGB, and a few other formats, which saves a lot of time if you convert colors over and over. Lastly, if the tray icon is inconvenient for you, pressing alt+~ will instantly open your eyedropper, or you can define your own hotkey in the options.

  Cons

  The version I downloaded from Download.com did nothing. It sat in the tray and that was it. Clicking it didn't do anything, there was no context menu, and the only way to close it was through the task manager. The version on the SpiceBrains website works, but it's not above the occasional glitch. Sometimes the dropper won't follow my cursor and won't disappear no matter how many times I click, until I press the hotkey again. It usually fixes itself after a few tries, but it's still frustrating considering this program is meant to SPEED UP the color-picking process. Not only that, but it doesn't let you pick colors from the Windows 10 Start menu. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the program, or with Windows, but the color picker just stops following your cursor at the edge of the Start menu.

  Summary

  For general use, it's great to have on hand. The bugs are mostly a problem for really specific uses-- e.g., I use the eyedropper while making custom Live tiles, and it's difficult not being able to copy from the Start menu. But it's small and unobtrusive and I'd recommend it for people who work with color a lot.

• Can't uninstall - yikes!

  CAN'T UNINSTALL!!!

  Summary

  Not as good as PicPick, so decided to uninstall, but there was no entry in Programs and Features - yikes! Looked for an uninstall command file in the InstantEyedropper program folder - nothing. Very bad practice - I'm sad now. :(

  Pros

  Collapses into system tray for easy, unobtrusive access. Outputs a variety of color formats (RGB, HSB, Hex, etc.). Copies directly to clipboard by default. Fast, hassle-free installation.

  Cons

  Seems to read colors only slightly inaccurately, e.g. a color of RGB 79:129:189 will test as 79:129:190. Not a huge sacrifice IMHO for the convenience this software provides.

  Pros

  No viruses or spyware. Program loads to the Task bar, where you drag it over the color you want to select.

  Cons

  With EyeDropper, you have to tell it to copy the color value to the Windows clipboard. It seems to me that this should be automatic.

  Summary

  It seems to be a stable and useful utility. I'll let you know if my opinion changes.

  Pros

  The is a great tool for webmasters or anyone who needs to grab HTML color codes quickly and easily! It resides in your tray icons and is very easy to access and use whenever you need it. And best of all it is freeware. I have had no problems with the tool at all and would highly recommend it - two thumbs way up!
