This handy fishing app assists anglers to dispatch their catch quickly and humanely using the ikijime method of brain destruction, a method scientifically proven to minimise stress for the fish while also maximising its eating qualities. The app uses the extensive database from www.ikijime.com, with cool photos and x-rays of a wide range of fish species popularly targeted by anglers in Australasia, together with helpful information on their brain location and other interesting fishy facts. If you're fishing in remote locations, unlike the other Ikijime Tool apps, this "IkiJime Tool Extreme" version of the app will work in regions where there is no phone or internet coverage. After all, the best fishing spots tend to be in the most remote areas ! The "About Us" button contains "How To" tips on the iki jime process. Once you know how to humanely kill your catch using the ikijime method, find your fish by using the "Search Fish" page. Select the water type you are fishing in (freshwater, estuary or offshore), then select the relevant fish name from the dropdown list and hit "Go Fish" to access the database. For some groups of fish (e.g. perches) the relevant fish species also needs to be selected before you can "Go Fish" to access the database. Another way to search is to use the taxonomic search option, which is useful if you know the taxonomic group or scientific names of the fish you are catching (handy for anglers living outside the Australasia region). Once you have selected your fish from the database by hitting "Go Fish", the fishes data page will appear with many fishy facts including alternative names, description, distribution, common and maximum sizes and more. You can then hit the x-ray button to use the very cool slide tool that shows the brain location of your fish superimposed as a white spot over easily recognised external landmarks. Stick your brain spike into the spot, the fish is instantly and humanely killed, and you have dinner ! Other useful features include a "Take Pics" function that allows you to take pictures of your catch to send to your friends for identification or bragging rights, and the "Brochures" page, where you can download PDF brochures to print out, laminate and take fishing with you.
