Not quite what I was looking for...

- It does it's job. IconFilter will pull out the images you want AND gives you three different formats in which to save them. [.ico, .bmp, .cur]

- I wanted a simple program that would grab ALL the icons on my PC and dump them into one huge file so I could sort through them at my leisure. <p> <p>Unfortunately, however, that's not how Icon Filter works. It only allows you to pick a specific file and then extract the icon(s) within. Also, the button interface is a bit clunky and not very self explanatory... Definitely needs some tuning to be of any real use...

- Quick and effective . Saves files as icons , cursors , or bitmaps ( with html browsing ) . <p> <p>Hidden bonus of being able to see some of the Downloaded Program Files which don't display in Explorer .

- No directory recursivity means you cannot scan the entire system in one go . Some initialisation glitches . Doesn't always display folder contents properly . Does not save your settings . Buttons on the GUI are graphically corrupted but they are easy to figure out .

- I'm suprised they don't sell it! It can extract in .bmp, .ico, and .cur! And it can extract all of the files in a directory with a single click! Congratulations to HushPage for their exellent work.

- It is hard to believe this is a free product that actually works. I have tried so many other products to extract an icon from exe files with no luck. This one is so simple to use!

- I had tried several other icon extractor programs with no luck (needed to extract icons from a dll). Icon Filter got it right the first time. The interface is very straightforward and easy to use, and I was extracting those icons within seconds. Bottom line, if you want a program that does the job right the first time then use Icon Filter.
