GoTrusted Secure Tunnel for Mac offers a reliable VPN service that's very easy to use. Once you get over the initial hurdle of creating an account and associating a valid payment method with it, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the seamless and straightforward operation of the software.

Pros

Very straightforward operation: The main interface of GoTrusted Secure Tunnel for Mac consists of a window with a single button that allows you to connect and disconnect from the VPN. In this window you'll also see a small log of the software's operation.

Stable connection: We tested the VPN service by connecting to its default USA server and downloaded a 90MB file. The download completed successfully after 24 minutes. While the average speed of 90KB/s was not blazingly fast, it proved to be very stable and reliable.

Handy menu bar icon: Through a menu bar icon, you have access to the app's settings, the ability to connect and disconnect from the VPN server, and can get help if you need it. The only downside is that the icon is colored and doesn't blend well with the rest of the menu bar.

Cons

Tedious registration: In addition to a standard registration that requires an email and a password, you are also required to enter billing information in the form of a PayPal address or a credit card and the billing address associated with that credit card. And it doesn't stop there. In order to prove that you have a valid payment method, you are required to accept a charge of $0.01.

Automatic subscription activation: By accepting the $0.01 charge you are also agreeing to a $5.99/month subscription that goes into effect seven days from the account's creation. Removing the software will not cancel the subscription. We tested the software using PayPal as a payment method, so we were instructed to log in to PayPal's website and stop the subscription from there.

Bottom Line

GoTrusted Secure Tunnel for Mac offers a good and reliable service, but its initial setup is too involved. If the tradeoff between a long registration and a very straightforward workflow works for you, then you should give the service a try.
