GM MIDI Player for iOS

GM MIDI Player plays Standard MIDI Files in SMF 0 and SMF 1 formats directly from local storage, imported documents, and shared file locations. It includes a built-in GM / GS software synthesizer that interprets MIDI playback internally without relying on external sound modules. 

Audio generation supports 16-part multitimbral playback and up to 128 simultaneous notes through the integrated sequencer engine. Imported MIDI files appear inside the GM MIDI Player library alongside bundled example tracks covering multiple music styles. Playback controls continue operating through background audio functions while notification controls and connected remotes handle pause and resume commands outside the main interface.

GM MIDI Player integrates with the Files app, allowing MIDI files to open directly from folders, cloud storage locations, and external document providers. “Open With” and sharing actions transfer compatible MID files into the playback library without additional conversion steps. Stored tracks can be grouped into playlists that remain accessible from the internal browser section. Imported content stays separated from the included MIDI examples bundled with the application. 

Self-contained playback

Playback relies on the integrated software synthesizer, which contains more than 300 instrument sounds and several drum maps based on General MIDI and Roland GS specifications. MIDI event processing interprets channel assignments, tempo data, controller messages, and instrument changes during playback. MIDI playback remains self-contained because the application does not transmit external MIDI data through CoreMIDI connections. Inter-App Audio communication and synchronization with external audio production apps are also unavailable inside the playback system.

Sound output can also stream to supported AirPlay receivers directly from the app. A bundled MIDI browser section contains preloaded tracks grouped across different musical categories. MIDI editing, track arrangement changes, and sequence authoring functions are not included. The media player focuses entirely on playback, library management, and internal sound generation rather than MIDI production workflows.

Integrated synth for easy listening

GM MIDI Player centers on MIDI playback and file organization through an integrated GM/GS synthesizer and internal sequencer engine. The app supports SMF playback, playlist handling, file importing through iOS sharing systems, background playback controls, and wireless audio streaming through AirPlay. Instrument playback includes hundreds of preset sounds and drum configurations tied to General MIDI standards. The application does not provide MIDI editing functions, CoreMIDI output support, or Inter-App Audio communication with external music production software.
